In the First Congregational Church community, we believe baptism can happen at any age and that in baptism God says that this person (infant, child, youth, adult) is “my beloved child in whom I am well pleased.”

Through the sacrament of baptism, a person becomes part of the Church of Jesus Christ, the body and community of Christ.  For this reason, baptism takes place in the presence of the community of faith as we gather for worship.

The water, words, and actions of the sacrament of baptism are an outward and visible sign of God’s invisible grace and unconditional love.

When we baptize someone with water and the Holy Spirit, we are saying we entrust them to the God of love we know through Jesus Christ.  We are asking God to bless them as they walk their journey of life and the way of Jesus Christ.

The day we are baptized is a day of blessing and the day we begin our lives as Christ’s disciples, sharing in the work of the Church to make the world a better place with Christ’s love.

If you would like to schedule a baptism, please look at the church calendar located on the website under “Events”.  Potential Baptism Sundays will be marked in purple.  When you have determined what date(s) work for you, please fill out the online baptism form.

Prior to a baptism, the Lead Minister appreciates the opportunity to speak with you and will be in touch to arrange a time to speak.
